Just rolled 100,00 (creeping in on 102k now) on my 03 Envoy XL with the V8 and 4WD. I have had it since around 4,000 miles and I am hoping to get another 100k out of it. I do all the oil changes and minor maintenance myself and have some extra/preventative maintenance done now and then.
Vehicle is running fine and my question is, what do you suggest I do for my 100,000 mile (preventative) maintenance?
* Change/Flush trans fluid? (been done once)
* Change trans filter? (original filter)
* Change transfer case fluid? (original fluid, 4WD rarely used)
* Spark plugs (original)
* Fuel Filter? (original)
* Coolant flush? (Been done, can do at home, is it better to have a shop do it?)
* Power steering flush (original fluid)
* Fuel Injection flush/clean (original injectors)
* anything else you can think of?
I am not opposed to doing some of the stuff at home if I can (coolant, power steering, etc) if it is somewhat easy for a garage mechanic and to no real advantage of having a shop do it.
Also, anyone else have lifter noise in their V8? I am pretty sure I have had lifter noise forever but every year when it cools off (yes, it does get cold in Phoenix) the lifter noise is a lot more noticeable but quiets down as the engine/oil warms up.
Thanks in advance!
Jason

On my 2002 tb at that mileage I changed the rear and ft diff fluid and the transfer case, yes replace the filter and 5 qts Dexron 6 trans fluid. forget the p/s fluid. Fuel filter is overdue, the plugs of course. Coolant maybe, if it is Dexcool should be ok. Bottle of Chevron Techron inj. cleane,r get the concentrated version. More than likely the engine noise is piston slap not lifter nosie, pretty common issue, not to worry.
