aright heres the deal...
iv got a 91 civic si with a zc motor swap. i used my 91 si tranny with the zc motor and it worked fine as i was told it would. i blew my tranny a couple of weeks ago and i ordered a used one from a place that imports japanese engines and tranns. the one i got had 20 spline and the one i took out had 21. or other way around. i used a 86-89 accord clutch disk cuz i was told it would fit and it did. now the problem is that with this new tranny its like my car has no power. it bogs starting up in first and shifting into second is like goin from 1st to third and the gears seam to be way longer than my old tranny. i also have another tranny from an 88 civic si which has the same # of splines as the one i have in my car now, that i cant mount. so im wonderin if maybe the tranny i have in is an 88 also and if the zc is not compatible with the tranny because of some differences in the tranny. anyways if anyone has any useful information or advise please help.
side note: supposedly this other tranny is from an 88 civic si..i bought it from a guy on another board and i didnt notice till after that it had 2 stripped holes and one with a broken off bolt inside where the mount goes so i cant put it in. so might not even be an 88 civic si tranny...
Cliff notes: does a 88 civic si tranny have a diff number of splines than a 91? and is it compatible with a zc motor?

88 = 21 splines on the imput shaft
89-91 = 20 splines on the imput shaft
Most 88-91 Civic/CRX trannies say L3 on them so its sort of hard to know what exactly the tranny is due to lack of any info we know to look up the number and see what it was.
As for clutches I have an 88 ZC Tranny and I used a 88 CRX Si clutch and it worked fine.

that will help you identify the trans. I believe 88 and 89 had 20 splines and 90-91 had 21.
