I have a 96 SSEI, it has been sitting for one year....I put it back on the road yesterday and done some shopping, and found out the key won't open the trunk so i tried the button on the door and it didn't work either. So how can i get the trunk open, I couldn't find the fuse the the release button.

Do you have keyless entry? tried the transmitter? Also, is there a valet switch in the glove box, is it engaged?
Also check relay center fuse #2

I'm not sure if it has keyless entry cause I never got one when I bought the car 3 years. I don't have a button in the glove box, my button is on my drivers door.
where would I find the relay center, are you referring to the fuse panel on the drivers side.

lets go with the idea that there is no power to the switch and the key lock is rusted so the key wont work so how do I get the trunk open to fix it.

Not sure if its in the dash or under the hood, the schematic just call is the "relay center" fuse box cover should call it out as trunk or rear release. Do you have a owners manual? It would show you locations in there. (CRAP, pushed something and changed my font)I know the trunk release switch is on the door, but is there a VALET switch in the glove box?

Found it, under right side of dash. you'll see a lot of relays plugged into it, hence "relay center"
You may have to pull the seatback to get to the latch

ok i found the relay center and it was under the hood on the fire wall and the fuse was good.
now as far as the VALET switch, i've never heard of it so i'm don't know what im looking for.

No, you need the relay center under the right side of the dash. Your car may not have the Valet option, you would see a switch inside the glove box. Check that fuse.

ok i found the relay center on the right side and i checked the fuse and the relay and they are both fine so im going to guess the switch in the door or the one in the trunk dont work. so how can i get it open so i can fix the lock so i can use my key at least.

Well, here's the bad news.....I believe there is a switch on the actuator....it's possible that it could be turned in the off position.....if the key won't work, does your rear seat have the passthrough option to the trunk? If it doesn't then the rear seat will have to be removed to get in there and manually open the trunk.....

ok i got the trunk open so i would like to thank everyone that helped me with it, as a side note this is what i found when i got the trunk opened or should i say remembered.
Last year when i parked the car i must have had the same problem cause the wires to make the switch work was cut so i took the lock completly out and grinded down a screw driver to fit in the hole and viola i can open the trunk.
again thanks to all.
