Hello,

Im a new user and have read the forums but so many pages not sure if this question has been answered already.

I have a 97 blazer and am having 4wd issues. anmely getting into 4wd hi. Have not used it in a while and now with the snow here i need it.

when i press the 4 hi buttonnothing happens. when i put in neutral, and press, both the 4hi and 4lo lights flash, but then stops and just stays in2wd.

if in neutral, i pres the 4 lo button, it does engage without problems, but i cant very well drive in 4 lo all the time. please help if possible, as i cant afford to take this to a mechanic to trouble shoot it. thankyou forayreply or suggestions you may have.

Welcome to the forum!

Under the battery tray there is a vacuum actuator that operates a clutch in the front axle housing. With the engine at idle, select 4WD HI. Vacuum should now be applied to the actuator and you should see the actuator pull the cable toward the actuator about 3/4". Post your results.
