Revell Ferrari F430

After my diabolical attempt of a first model (Aston Martin DBR9... looks awful after I assembled it all together). I tried doing all these 'additional' touches such as panel lines, window lines, and I have frankly ruined it. I almost ruined the Ferrari too by attempting window lines. However I sanded the model, and have ordered a black spray can to compensate for my complete lack of skill. I've spent a bit more time with this model and the kit also a far better fit than the Airfix DBR9! There are actually slots, so creating a mess with the plastic cement is thankfully not a problem. Not even sure what is the best way to do them. I pretty much used my finger and even messed a couple up in the process, including that missing Ferrari logo on the engine! Just a question, when I finish spraying the car body, do I apply clear coat and then polish, or do I polish after the 3 coats of colour? Also, do I apply decals before clear coat and polish, or after I polish and clear coat everything?

It's not that bad. Have you tried using a Sharpie marker to do the window trims? Yes, it takes a shit load of patience and a super steady hand. And with a sharpie, if you color outside the lines, so to speak, you have a cautious few seconds to wipe it away.

Or should I clear coat and then polish? Also the model comes with some kind of plastic wire grill sheet. How do I use it? Do I simply cut it out and glue it using tamiya cement? Help please! Honestly don't know what I'm doing.

give it a few days to gas out then wet sand it smooth, put your clear on, let it gas then polish the clear

Hi, I'm currently working on finishing off this same kit. The mesh is best attached with white glue (PVA) rather than plastic cement - it isn't plastic, so it won't stick with the cement as well, and you'll run the risk of messy mistakes if the cement runs onto your paint.

Your paint coat looks ok to me. Be careful with polishing - I'm also a beginner, and I'm yet to get polishing right. I've gone through the paint on all the kits I've tried it with.

I might try to get some pictures posted up of my build later today, if I remember. I'm not used to taking pictures until long after my kits are completed yet though.

I'm not sure if there is enough left in the can. When I used it for the other black pieces, it seemed to begin spitting the paint. I think I might just clear coat it then... What grit sandpaper should I smooth it with? I have 6000 grit, 8000 grit and 12,000 grit.

best way is to run thru them all from 6000 to 12000 but as mentioned before be careful not to rub thru to the primer
