Ok, I know this doesn't belong in the GP forum since it's a G6, but there's not much traffic over there. Anyone know anything about the G6 convertible with a 3.5 or 3.9? I gave my GP to my daughter and it only has about 390,000 on it now. My wife is interested in the convertible.

It's a great idea...hard top convertible......but man, when that thing is out of warranty, if it needs repairs, will be expensive......
Have seen guys try to make adjustments on this and make it worse.....cold weather, they tend to rattle over bumps.....
It's a fragile system......those plastic covers are not meant to be leaned on.....have seen the system abused, and when things get bent, have some real problems....
Basically have no trunk, if the top is down......if the top is up, you have much more room.....but have had cars come in with smashed rear windows, because they were not informed or did not read the manual on how to safely retract the roof.....
As for the rest of the car, the G6 replaced the Grand Am......engine is peppy.....only problems I have seen are coolant leaks at the crossover pipe(connects the two heads).....
If you buy one, make sure the top is in good working order.....Watch it as it goes up and down....that it goes evenly and doesn't jerk, and that the cover system alignment is ok.....
When it's working right, and it is used properly, that top is a good system......but when you have problems, it could be an expensive repair, especially if the guy working on it doesn't know what he is doing.....

I agree with everything TechII said. Be wary of the top. Lots of sensors and switches. Very complicated to diagnose, repair and adjust. When ii's working as designed it's a pretty cool set up, but if problems arise it can get complicated. On the other hand though, I don't see alot of them come in with top concerns. Not sure if there just are'nt that many around here, or if they're just that reliable.

We found a nice one owner G6 convertible with 50 000 miles and we bought it. Luckily it had the 3.5 since we wanted to tow it and the 3.9 can't be towed four down. My wife loves this thing so now we re both happy.

Just make sure that when you pull that cover back in the trunk, that there is nothing protruding upward on that cover....it has to be flat...had two instances where there was stuff that pushed up on the cover, and broke the glass when it retracted....

We were covered pretty good on that. Thanks for that reminder though.
