replaced the starter on my sons gmc Sierra truck today
and while hooking the battery cables back to the battery I noticed the
negative cable was just layin on top of the frame.
I looked at the front of the block for a place to bolt it but found nowhere.
Can anyone tell me where their neg cable is bolted on their truck.

I'm not 100%, but I think they usually bolt to the back of the passanger side head. The battery is in the r/f correct?

Any place on engine block or head or intake or water pump will work.
Lot of bolt holes on end of cyl heads.

Also the other engine to cab and frame grounds should be checked.
If neg big neg to engin cable was off at one place it may have damaged the other grounds.

Thanks for the reply MT-2500,
I checked the cab to engine ground and it looked like it had been cut into.
This is the thin, flat, braded one. I overlaped the two ends and used a spring clamp to hold em together. All seems fine now!
Should i crimp, or solder the braded wire back together or get a new one ?
Also I found a hole up front of the block rite beside the fuel pump block off
to bolt the neg. battery cable.

New one or a biger ground wire would be best.
I nevery did like that braded ground strap.
Also make sure fram is grounded to engine or battery neg someplace.
Some stuff is grounded to frame.
Good luck

I too do not like uninsulated ground straps especially in the rust belt. they turn into copper dust.

as mt2500 stated replace these cables. if you make your own crimp and solder the connectors on.......
