carb vs efi

Hi, im trying to find if enyone knows how much difference there is between a 1984 2.8 carburated and 1986 2.8 tbi. I know 2 obvious is the carb has mechanical fuel pump but doesnt have a knock sensor. What I am up against is an 84 engine was installed into an 86 tbi truck. Will this engine work with tbi controls and can a knock sensor be installed?
