Lexus LFA

This is Tamiya's Lexus LFA, built for review in the Dec. 2011 issue of Scale Auto Magazine.

This is a really cool, full-detail kit, with no compromises to detail as seen on some other modern Tamiya kits. Assembly is typical Tamiya, my only issue was with a couple of the small magnets that didn't fit as flush as they should have in the back (for mounting the flush or raised spoiler assemblies).

I had a chance to see LFA #003 up close and personal right before I built this kit; it is a local car and the first production LFA sold to a customer. It is an amazing looking and sounding car.

excellent build as always zoom zoommx5! I like the different shades of black in the engine bay. Now I really want the kit :) it looks great in white.

Astonishingly crisp, as usual, Bob. I'm not really excited by the car itself, but I am by the quality of the kit.

Very nice, Bob. It does look great in white with the dark wheels. Kind of makes me want to reconsider what to build next.

Beautiful work as always Bob! Not a fan of this car but it really demonstrated what it could look like when Tamiya really went for it, they just put so much efforts on it. This one is indeed a brilliant kit worth playing with, sadly I could only but wait for their next try...:frown:

BTW, what brand red did you use for the LFA? It looks so smooth, bright, and has the right amount of sheen.

It's decanted Italian Red (possibly Gunze bottled solvent-based Italian red...can't remember), then hit with decanted Tamiya flat clear. Most all interiors, whether I shoot in flat, satin, or gloss, get some amount of the Tamiya flat or semigloss clear shot in a couple light coats. It seems to protect the flat colors from scratching, and gives a nice satin sheen to the parts.

Another White one!!! Fantastic build, great review too! Love how Tamiya has done the clasp on the seat for where the seatbelt goes into but I dont remember seeing any belts on the PE set.... small oversite...
