P00300 - Any ideas on how to solve that?

Is that time again where I have to pass NYS inspection and the check engine light is on, funny how that happens around inspection time. The code stored is 00300 and short of going through the whole expensive process of changing the wires and plugs - all of which can be a hit or miss proposition - what can I do?

What's the year + mileage?
Plugs + wires are good for 100k miles.
I would start with regular maintenance, that could of been forgotten.
Examples -
Air filter, Fuel filter, MAF sensor cleaning, and a new upstream H02 sensor.

More often than not, plugs/wires DON'T last 100K.....
Year, mileage, and engine?

Thank you all for the replies. The car has 155+k miles and the last time I did tune up was probably 3 or 5 years ago... so perhaps it might due.
