OK - maybe it's not totally off topic, but I didn't know where to post this:
After a summer of being dissapointed with my car's burnout ability, I finally fixed the 'Problem' :).
Turns out my car's ABS also uses traction control to eliminate tire spinage. So, I removed 3 fuses that control the ABS and TC :).
Now, when I mash the gas - I get a BEAUTIFUL song from the rear tires :D!!!
It was so fun in the rain today - I was hanging the tail out around turns, and generally being an ass ;).
A good story too - on the way home from work tonight, some guy was going 65 kph down an 80 kph 2 lane road. So, I took my first oportunity to pass him - and did. I didn't signal in when I pulled in, as I was a good distance ahead of him and going about 100. Anyways - he flashes me for a few secconds with his brights! Needless to say - I was NOT impressed. I locked up my brakes on the wet pavement and slowed to about 50 kph in a hurry - I noticed he slowed pretty fast too - and I was still putting distance between myself and him at my 50 kph in an 80 zone :D! I guess I really freaked him out - not a good idea to piss of the driver of a big sedan all blacked out, eh ;)? You never know who's behind the wheel :D!

Im right with ya Merc. I love sliding the caprice around corners, especially when its wet, and having the ability to make the tires sing is nice. :D
Again. I agree with heep tho. I used to do a ton of drifting, and its cool, but when drifting, the big car builds up momentum very fast, and if your not a good driver (i dont know how good you are) you can end up in a 180 faster than u can blink, or even wrapped around a pole. (i came extremly close once last yr)
Its kinda neat that ur car had traction control built into the ABS system like that.Pretty cool, IMO

After reading this a few times, it remindes me of crusin the highway late at night. Just by pulling up behind someone who is definitly speeding, and just pulling up on them fast, then back off a bit, its what I call "playin the cop role". Wait a few seconds and then they will be right down to the speed limit :D Then I punch it and go by and they realize im not a cop. I had a glitch in the headlight dimmer until recently fixed, so if I clicked on the highbeams, it made the lowbeams flicker, but the highbeams didnt work. This scared the fuck out of a few ppl and they, thinking I was a cop and that they had been busted, were signaling to pull over when id do this. It wasnt very nice of me, but as you said, you never know who is behind that wheel, and at night with me behind ya, i have to get reeel close b4 u could tell that im not a cop.
Now that the light glitch is fixed, I cant pulsate the headlights anymore, but I can still get ppl to think im a cop at night, at least long enough for them to think twice about speeding :D

The rigors of driving on the road are taxing enough. Watching out for piggies, avoiding old slow non turn signal using decaying old farts, construction delays, drunks and now I have to watch out for blacked out cars? The heck with it! From now on I drive 150+ miles an hour just to get away from all those crazies! ;) :D

Thanks for the support - I was kinda worried that I'd get dumped on. I know my actions last night were extremely agressive, and almost bordering on Road Rage. In fact I was very pissed off at first, but after he had drastically slowed down and I was losing him at my already rediculously low speed, I started laughing my ass off :D!
I'm by no means a mobster or am involved in criminal activity, but c'mon - you don't piss off drivers of odd looking vehicles. And my vehicle (as cool as it looks) is DEFINATELY odd compared to all the other Vics and Marquis in my area.
Pics - kinda hard to arange that, but maybe I should try :).
And Hummer - I know how quick it is to lose it. I've never crashed, but I have wiped out with my XR7 before in the Snow - but that doesn't count - it's TOO easy with 3.73's and Posi with a light rear end ;)!
As for my driving skill - I drive for a living, and have experienced alot out there in my few driving years, and seen alot of weird stuff... By no means does that make me a professional driver though ;)!
The Traction control is nice, but can be a hinderance. I'm pretty sure that I'll put the fuses back in if I can't control the car too well (but I'm not worried about that - I managed fine with my 88 Vic winter beater 2 years ago). The TC really prevented alot of sliding and spinning. I'd put the pedal down halfway, and the car would put the maximum torque down before slipping. I'd easily blow by 'superior in winter' Front wheel drive cars on stop lights :).
And Hummer - you're a mean bastard with the lights :D! But hey, it got em' out of yer' way, eh :)?

Ya Merc. It was fun for a bit. Not too many caprice cop cars left tho. There mostly all Chevy Impala's around here now.
The caprice is alot of fun as a winter car, and fun for sliding around, but I really have to watch myself, as things tend to get out of control really fast, and I am learning with experiance, but I am not the best winter driver yet.

Well don't worry about not being a great winter driver off the bat - it's an aquired skill that does take practice.
Sounds silly, but we actually induce slides in our company vehicles, so that we know how to control them once we come into a situation where we go out of control. And, I can say that the practice has saved me from getting a few tows!
Last winter, I only got stuck twice - once when I pulled over onto the 'shoulder' to take a piss, and the truck slid into the ditch :(. Another time, I got stuck in my ruts from trying to get out the previous day, in the same driveway. Talk about dumb, eh? Go into the same lane I had trouble with the day before. Anyways, it took about 3 hours for a truck to come and pull me out. Didn't matter though, I was on OVERTIME :D!!!
But seriously, find an empty parking lot once we get some snow and ice and practice sliding around, and pulling out of skids in a straight line. When it happens, you'll be glad you did :).

KB - looks like that hurt! Who did it? Same with that S2000 on the other page (sorry Jay :)). Yeah, can't say that I never did anything stupid as a teenaged driver either...
Hey Gan$tar - it wasn't funny at the time :D!
I can still remember it - when we're out in the boonies, rather than find a washroom, us men just find a nice deserted area, pull over, slide open the door and let it go. But that time... I hadn't been on that road before, and didn't realize how narrow it was. So, I edge toward what I thought was the shoulder at a low speed (25 k's maybe?), and am still slowing down. Suddenly though, the truck shimy's a bit, and just caves through the snow in the ditch. I was caught totally off guard, and it was over before I knew what was going on.
I had to walk about 1/4 mile to yet another farm house, in VERY windy, snowy and cold conditions, phone my boss, make up a story ;), and then walk back to my truck after a tow was on the way. To top it off - the Cab of my truck was full of snow by the time I got back. And - I REALLY HAD TO PISS BAD by that time :D! Oh, but I got paid for it though - we're paid by the hour, no matter what happens :).
I'm in a better position this winter though - I get to stay in the city :). I have a daily route, and don't have to do all sorts of releif work, where I never know the route, people, roads, etc.

No, it was stupid alright, but it looked like a shoulder! And yes, I felt like an ass at the time, but it's happened to other people too...
Like the Pontiac Perisienne I had to pull out of a ditch - same sitation. Guy pulls over to take a leak, and his car slides into the ditch.
Canadian winters - what a BITCH :)!

I live in NW Ontario, and let me say that driving can be a bitch if your not good at it. Most of the ppl are used to it and its no big deal as you posted, but then there are the few that drive the same way summer or winter, and they are the ones that end up dead.
I have to admit that winter driving can be fun, but it can be dangerous.

I've never been up to Thunder Bay - does that area get alot of acumulation? I know you're right on the tip of Superior, but depending on the wind directions.... You'd get practically no snow from the west..
Anyways Gan$tar - you and I are on that ridge of land that gets alot of snow. We get alot of streamer activity in this area, which usually dumps alot of snow a few times/winter :). And yes, it's LOTS of fun in the winter for driving. Too bad there's other idiots to contend with...
Mopie - I drive for Purolator Courier - the guys that always cut everyone off and drive like idiots :D!

We get plenty of snow, always a few feet worth every yr. Remember Im pretty far north, so ya we do see quite a bit. Enought that we have (or had a couple of ski hills here) Sometimes being next to Lake Superior can be a blessing, sometimes it is not good at all.

Your second on my hit list after Taxis!!!! j/k
Some couriers are really good and give me enough room to get about, others can be a real pain and forget that my truck although small is still bigger and heavier and less agile than thier Vans.

I take it you drive a Big Rig :)?
Then, I understand your frustration - I had to drive a 5 tonne for a little bit, and HOLY SHIT are there ever a PILE of idiots out there.
Anyways - you could say that I am a VERY courteous driver. I frequently stop to let trucks out of lanes - on 2 of Stratfords busy streets, it's next to impossible to make a left turn, unless someone stops for you. I won't attempt stopping on a 4 lane road, as you can't control traffic, but on a 2/3 laner - I'd let ya out :).
And, I stop to let old ladies and children cross the road.
Just because I'm nice though, doesn't mean I won't cut you off if there's a gap ;). Tight schedules, you know?
