Hitch questions for a 2000 blazer

So I have a 2000 S10 Blazer and I want to put a hitch on it. I went to my local junkyard the other day and found an almost brand new round tube style hitch on a 96 blazer. I asked the guys who work there if it would fit on my blazer because the bumper was different on the 96 than on mine so I was kinda hessitant and wasnt sure it would fit. He told me that the 95-96 wont fit my blazer, and that anything off of a 97-2002 would fit it. The problem is all I could find were 95 and 96's. He said the one off the 96 would fit but I would have to trim the bumper a bit, is this true? If so how much trimming would I have to do? Also would it make a difference with the round tube hitch vs the square tube hitch. The round tube one looks a little smaller in profile to me. If I can make the one off the 96 work I would much rather do that because the cost of that one is 30 bucks vs a new one for my blazer thats around 120 bucks. Thanks for the help in advance. :)

I bought my hitch for my 98, a square tube opening, from AutoZone for like $30 bucks or so like 8 or 9 years ago or so...Try there, it will be easier and I dunno how much money you would save at the junk yard, but it will save you time and aggravation if you get one that doesnt fit

No offense but that was 11 years ago things have changed A LOT since then. The cheapest brand new one I can find is 120 roughly. So if its at all possible to make the one off a 96 work on my 2000 (even with a little bit of extra effort and work on my part) Its worth it to me because I paid only 30 bucks vs 120.
