Have 07 silv. old body style,
If I run the AC blower on high for several minutes(like when trying to cool down the cab in the middle of the day leaving a parking lot) i start to get a burning electrical smell and have had the blower quit completely, when it does quit it will restart after a cooldown period.. Turning to a lower speed will stop the smell and keep it running.
My guess its a relay heating up?if so where is it.

Check the connector at the blower resistor module and see if it is burned. GM has a "special policy" for '03-'07 Silverado for this concern.

Recall Details On certain vehicles, the interface between the electrical terminals of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) blower relay resistor module and the wiring connector (which powers the module) may be incapable of conducting higher current levels for sustained periods of operation. In addition, moisture and other contaminants (such as road de-icing materials) may enter the fresh air intake plenum and contact the internal circuit of the module or corrode the terminals. These conditions may cause the relay resistor module or wiring connector to overheat, causing various symptoms such as: the HVAC blower may not function on certain or all blower speed settings; a burning-plastic smell or smoke may be present in the vehicle, or; the HVAC blower may run continually with the ignition in the OFF position. These warning signs could, in certain instances, be leading indicators of an impending vehicle fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Owners will be provided with additional warranty coverage for the blower motor resistor module/wiring connector overheating condition. Under this "special warranty coverage", should this condition occur within 10 years or 240,000 km from first vehicle registration, dealers will install a replacement blower motor resistor and resistor module connector. It has been reported that the labor is free. however the dealership charged the owner 169.00 for the resistor and 69.oo for the connector. I would buy a new resistor assy at the autozone store with a lifetime warrantee for about 30.oo. this is a lot cheaper. installing is not that difficult..
only on very few vehicles , was the connector damaged by GM's defective resistor assy.
I replaced my resistor assy 2 years ago. 10X stronger than what was installed at the time of vehicle build. weather / water proof resistor assy ..lifetime warrantee.

take ur truck in to the nearest gm dealership where they will do the special policy. blower motor reisistor and connector get melted together as well as the wire insulation may get melted as well.

Does this "special policy" also apply to the small trucks like an 08 cannon crew cab. I'm still having trouble with my blower motor to. I replaced the resitor cause speed three went out and it didn't take 2 weeks and it went out again.

I am not familiar with what your vehicle has exactly , for controls on this part. however the blower motor if defective in that it has internal shorts of the armature will draw too much current and this would quickly damage the resistor. also make sure the connector is not damaged with corrosion.
where did you purchase this part ? who made this part ?
