Hi all,
Long time reader first time poster.. anyways I thought I would stick a couple of quick pics up of a couple of my WIP's..
44095
44096
44097
44098
44099
The Rx7 is an old Tamiya kit I picked up off ebay to build a replica of my rx7.
Mods include removed hood
built engine bay
18" fujimi wheels
scratch build 20b engine
race seats
carpet
big exhaust :)
The Rx3 kit isnt anything fancy, just added some bigger wheels and muffler.
Both are unfinished and I just do a bit when I got time. Overall they look ok but not fantastic, think I need heaps more practice, especially painting straight lines but ill get there. Any tips or suggestions, fire away.

Good job with the scratch building. Both look nice, specially the Rx3. Maybe you could have taken some more pics of the details and interior to show us more.
As for critics/tips:
- for those thick black side stripes you can try masking and airbrushing. Believe me, it´s way faster, easier and better looking (I´ve just started doing it, check my 300zx)
- for window trims you can try the same thing, or try a black Uniball UM-100 gel marker. They are easy to use, with a 0.7mm (I guess) roller-ball tip. Just be carefull as they run over water, and wipe-off if not dry (it may take several days/weeks until fully dried) or clear over them with a "everything-friendly" clear coat. First give it a try on scrap. If you keep on brushing the trims, use a very thin, soft, and short-haired brush and work calm and slowly.
- last comment is about clear parts, such as the hatch window. Again use a gel marker or whatever you like and paint the edges or side-faces of the part. This will act like a rubber edge for the glass, and will add more realism.
Well, I fired up enough :p Keep up.

thanks for the comments.. I think your right about the air brush, im not happy with the hand painted details, now I just gotta buy an air brush setup. :)
I also just picked up some BMF and its great! I started going over the details of the rx3 with it and its heaps better.
Here are a few more pics, few things to point out:
*These are all ongoing projects and none are near complete yet.
*None have had a clear coat put over them yet, still detailing them all then ill clear them.
*I havent even started detailing the engine/engine bay yet, so plenty to do there.
*The FD is my first attempt at using a candy paint, quite happy with the results, hopefully the details do it justice. :)

Looks like you like Mazdas...
The Rx3 and FD are looking great.
About the FD, I´d lower the front a bit more on the FD. Are those Veilside Andrew´s? And did you use clear red or crimson red from Humbrol? It looks nice.
On the FB, an easy fix for the black lines all around should be to strip the paint CAREFULLY with a sharp blade, removing the extras to leave a straight line. Just rub like with sandpaper, but do it with love :p and with very light pressure. You don´t wanna strip the white or leave scratches.

Yeah I love my rotas :) big hp with little weight makes for an exciting ride.
The wheels on the fd are the veilsides and the colour is a testors candy grape over a tamiya silver base, it's straight out of the can, no clear or polish..
I got plenty of other ones that are getting built aswell including a r32 gtr, a te27 corolla drag car with a rb26 under the hood and also a replica of my s14 (which I'm trying to track down some gold bbs 20s for it).. Among others, the problem is they are so time consuming to build.

Heres a couple of shots of another rx3 im working on.. Its going to be a replica of one of my favorite rx3's over here in Aus, Toy-12a..
Colour is candy blue over silver base (havent clear coated yet).
BMF for the chrome trim.
It has my 2nd attempt at building a 20b engine and this ones working out a lot better :)
The purple one has just had some BMF chrome work done to it but not much else. Going to open the bonnet on this one aswell and stick a webber fed 13b under the bonnet.

Good luck and i like the 1:1. Some washes would help in the engine bay.
