5.7 LS1 vs 5.7 Hemi MDS

The question is which of the two produces more Torque and BHP when moded...
I've read an article in Truckin' that they took an old junkyard HEMI with MDS and after putting in a performance cam, they got 401 BHP and 425 torque...
Now, how would an old junk LS1 do with a similar mod???

Around the same. Google should point you in the right direction.

I tried to do a search.... wasn't getting anywhere... I'll keep at it. Let you know if I've found anything. If anyone has any idea let me know....

One thing I did find out from the article in truckin', the LS engines and the Hemi do quite similar design features... One could think that they're twins... LOL

Try checking out ls1tech or performancetrucks. I'd link to them, but the admins don't like it when I do that.

I went through a couple of links to find out about the question I asked earlier... which engine responds better to mods; Hemi or LS..
These days most of the articles in the Hot Rod mag seem to focus on the LS engines and they have been getting a bit of flank for it... But they proved that the LS engine is one of the hottest engines around and can handle be boosted to produce 1200 BHP without reducing its lifespan...
The new Hemi hasn't done so well with the hot-rodding scene since apparently its aftermarket is more expensive...
However one site did mention something interesting... heads on the Hemi weren't like the ones used in the 426 "Elephant" Hemis of the 60s. It should've been, but instead they're more reminiscent of the SBCs...

If the new Hemi has heads more similar to the small-block engines of old than the old legendary Hemis, are the heads on a Chevy SBC hemispherical???

Has GM ever built a Hemi of their own??? I know that Ford did with the Boss 429.

you listen to it. you can tell when it changes to 4 cylinders. just a little squirt of gas will turn it to 8.
Umm.. I fail to see the point you're trying to make...

There was an Olds engine with a hemi style head and 4 valves. W-43 option code. It never made it to production.

Wow... I guess I keep forgetting that each GM brand had produced their own engines at some point... These days they're almost forgotten... You should mention this in another thread of mine...

Its about forgotten engines....

Since the heads on the new Hemi engines resemble the SBC heads, I wonder if there are any aftermarket heads for the Hemi engines which are more closer to the heads on the legendary 426 "Elephant" Hemis..

Any ideas???
