99 Nissan Maxima locked diff or not

Putting the two axles sided by side what would be the difference? Is one longer than the other or are the gears cut deeper . There has to be a difference. I'm going to get both and take back the one I don't need. Hope the difference is noticable.......thanks for ANY information

My ANY info is pretty worthless: 3gen maximas have 'at least 5 types identical looking' axles. Only one works ... four fit and will eventually cause problems. Some lock/drop immediately, some later.
Seeing that known industry problems from 50's are recycled over and over again, my bet is that -99 model has 'seven fitting types' and only one is really ok.
I'd take my axles for a visit to a Nissan dealership mech ... whatever, make sure.

OK so I ordered BOTH axles for the car One of the axles is about 2 1/2 longer than the other and is splined the extra length. I suspect that this is the Locking one. When I take the axle out I'll know better. So the axle for the LOCKED DIFF is longer than the standard axle...
