Cut and welded subframe?

Im looking at buying an 83 Z but Im a little hesitant after seeing where the trans crossmember bolts to the frame has been cutout to remove the cross member and rewelded. Apperently the PO removed the tranny and couldnt get the two mounting bolts for the cross member out and decided to cut around the cross member on the driverside frame. The plate and weld looks good along with the rest of the body and undercarriage. Is this going to be an issue in the future? Do they sell replacement c channels? Any help is great.
