Thanks a lot. The vids were absolutely superb!
It must have been quite a incredible experience for you. The dream came true, I think? :smokin:
By the way; did you recorded anything outside of the car? Meaning perhaps when Simon left with his car; did you shoted that and recorded?
Just wondering, where we could get some comparing to Flemke's vids sounds, fly past you know? Or accelerations away from the camera or something like that? :)
The first clip was allmoust that what I'm looking for, do you have anything more? :)

OK, well no can do then. Great you got atleast these ones. Fantastic.
What you think Patrick; should this Thread also add the rest #007 videos from Youtube, even those are not yours?
That French autobahn and those two Alps clips?
There is atleast 5 clips taken onboard #007 allready.
Just thinking, should this specific car have it's own Thread starting your posts? :smokin:

Agree.
Patrick:
Can you tell us a bit more the feeling when you were on board?
- Did the engine felt trought the seat in your back when it was running idle?
- What about the acceleration, what kind of feelings you felt throught the seat on your back? Or was it just a big ROAAARRR and gear change kick and then again ROAARR..?
- The Simon's brief of the car was very good, but is F1 a quiet car to be on board? Just the wheels making noise and then of course if you open the loud pedal...
- And have you had a change to be onboard anything else, like V12/BB 12 Ferrari's or V12 Lamborghini's before? If yo have; how you compare McLaren experience to these one's?
Which was different?
(I know F1 is F1 but.. :grinyes: )
Example old Classic Lamborghini's follows the same formula than F1, big V12, manual gearbox, and real wheel drive and so on. So it would be interesting to read your comments of the ride and comparing to other supercars. :)

yes it really was quite comfortable at normal city speeds, no big sounds, but when the accelerator goes down you are really overblown by the amazing BMW V12
I have had a ride in F40 once but that is much louder on lower speeds, a lot of rattles and cracks are heard which the F1 does not have. Only the sound of gearchange and acceleration. The V12 is not blowing your ears of though. I think you can even cruise with this car from London to Monaco and you won't be tired.

The sounds inside the car are completely different than outside. It's surprising because you would expect a car like that to be boisterous and loud. But it shows the maturity and refinement McLaren built into the car that it doesn't attract attention.
But inside the car, it's a proper screaching, on-the-edge monster. Other cars - including newer BMWs - manufacture the sound of their engines. The F1's V12 is honest and all business. I think Gordon Murray would have let the sound in no matter what engine was used (adding more resonators and mufflers would have added weight). But it's definately an added bonus to be a monster V12.
"Walk softly and carry a big stick."
Thanks for posting the videos!

Ok very intersting!
What I remember from the DA book; they didn't want any turbos or superchargers or anything. A big capacity V12 was the target and I think Gordon knew quite well what kind of "noise" he want's the engine make.
I have some kind of feeling that.
Gordon has been said somewhere on that book or video clips that "the sound will be better without turbos", so I think he knew 100% what kind of layout and "noise" he was looking for those days. I just have that kind of feeling when reading things that period when they were planing the engine things.
But still I think the sound what the engine makes; it just happened. It's straight race engine, with lot's of high quality parts and inlet valvetiming and so on. We all know how the engine were done. :smokin:
But I have to say something about Lamborghini's, classic V12 ones.
The sound of Bizzarrini's V12 are defenitely the orginal, wihtout any "desing" things. Like classic Ferrari's and so on.
There isn't any question about in carburator models, but still the Diablo were not "desinged" to sound any thing else than it sounds.
Don't know the later 6.0 ones, but the 1990-1999 the sound is what it makes and that's it. :smokin:
Fortunately.

That image F1 and F430 together is stunning.
Look at that! The F430 doesn't look any newer than F1.
Really have to say this again, the desing is perfect. How on earth they managed to create so "timeless" shape to the car, still looks like 2011 model!
