Brakes not....Braking -_- ??

Was on my way home from work, and my passenger front caliper decided to :jerking: on me. Was left with no choice but to cruise home in 1st gear for a mile or so and get her fixed.

Got home, replaced my 2 front calipers, rotors & pads - along with rear pads & rotors. Bleed the system and filled the resevoir everytime it got to the add line, and did the infamous, RR,RL,FR,FL (Rear Right, Rear Left, Right Front, Right Left). Took the car for a ride, and still no brakes, it would stop very slightly and when the pedal reached the floor it would pulsate a little and I would have to apply the brake very firmly. ALSO like to add, the brake fluid would rise to the top of the resevoir even without pressure added to the brake pedal :screwy:,,Few local shops said they never seen this before

With my 4yrs as a mechanic I think I know everything so I re-bleed the system, didn't work. Decided to call up 2 car-smart people - my teacher from my Automotive Institute (ASE certified) & a fellow manager who has been a mechanic since he was 17 (in his 40's now) - they both said the master cylinder could be bad, so I replaced the master cylinder, re-bleed the entire system (bench bleed the new master cylinder before install) and the brake still goes to the floor, and still pulsates a little as the pedal goes lower

Kinda ran out of ideas here, anyone have ANY idea what could be going on ? My only option I have now is to let the system drip bleed and see if there was still some air left inside :banghead: :banghead:

Sure sounds like air in the system to me. Since the brakes were working ok before the repair, it has to be something that happened during the brake work.

Air in the ABS maybe?


Also, what year is your Jeep?

I have more or less the same problem , only that I replaced the master cylinder an rear shoes and drums an now the resevoir is spillinout. I think we still have to do a lot of bleeding since all the passages inside the ABS system. Any one agrees?
