DIY Transmission Fluid Exchange

Has anyone done this procedure? I watched a video where a guy took the tranny cooler supply line off and clipped it to a bucket. He then started the car and kept feeding new fluid into the dipstick tube until the fluid ran clean. Of course, before this, he did drain the transmission plug and filled it with several quarts of new fluid first. I wanted to do this and then go back and replace the filter and gasket. I went to a local shop and asked some guys that I know there and they want to charge about $275 to do the fluid exchange/filter change. That does sound like a fair price, but with things being tight now, I thought about searching for a do-it-yourself avenue. Thoughts??

after you replace the filter and clean the pan ..the replacement of the fluid can be done by way of the transmission cooling line. it would be best to have a helper to start and stop the engine if necessary..

you will need about 12 qts of tranny fluid to do this..

some hoses a funnel and a 5 gallon pail to collect the old fluid..

with a hand operated pump you can suck out any excess fluid to get the level correct...

as the amount of fluid comes out add fluid..
