Ok, so a few months ago, our 2002 Blazer starting stinking like rotten eggs. So, we had a guy gut the converters and he welded them back on. This gave us our power back but shortly after that we ran into other trouble. The car runs a little rough in idle/neutral, and it smells like gas really bad. We just replaced the fuel filter and pump. What else is there to check for something like this? I'm thinking the fuel pressure regulator or possibly a leaky injector. Whatever it is, I hope it's not that expensive. Any ideas? Thanks!

Guting cats is a illegal operation.
A computer controled fuel injection engine will not run right with cats gutted.
Also if the cats were plugged there may have been a engine running problem that caused them to plug up.
Any check engine ligts or codes.
What is the fuel pressure readings.
Are you smelling raw gas or rich exhaust?

Yeah, we live in MS so we don't have to worry about inspections. It smells like raw gas, but only when the car is running or was running within the last 30 minutes. Otherwise it doesn't smell. I don't remember the codes since my father in law ran the tester on it at his house. I know that it's throwing a multiple misfires code. Thanks for the input!

You are welcome.
If you are smelling raw gas look for fuel leaks.
Gutted cats is a big no no any place and time.:nono::nono::nono::nono:
Gutted cats is illegal any time you drive it on a federal funded highway.
A engine will not run right and computer controls will not work right with cats gutted.
If you have missfire codes many things can cause them.
Start with a good AC delco parts tune up and getting some good cats on it.
For more help get the code no and post them back.

I'll bet, in addition to the misfire code, he has a P0420 code....

Had my buddy run his reader on the car today and the only code it had was a P0300 - multiple cylinder misfire code
