My 1993 grand marquis with an AOD transmistion shifts into drive, 1st, and 2nd and will also will go back into neutral but will not shift into reverse or park. when you try to shift down the shift lever will go all the way down to park but with no resistance and won't shift into the gears and also makes a hissing noise while pushing the shifter left towards reverse and park. I removed the steering wheel and disarmed the airbag. now I just need to figure out how to fix the problem ASAP! I can't even remove the key from the stearing column until I fix the problem and get the car into park. PLEASE HELP!

First, look at the little screws that hold the shifter cable to the bottom of the shifter. If they are loose, it can cause your problem. Then look at the adjustment nut on the side of the transmission where the cable hooks to it. last, lower the steering column (be sure to disconnect the gear indicator cable) and look at the shift tube to see if it is broken. If it is broken, it will also cause your problem.

Is this an AOD or AODE (electronic trsny). '93 was the first year for them! MB
