i have a chome grille guard on my 1996 chevy cheyenne 1500 while i like it, it only connects to the the bumper via holes i had to drill i was wondering if i ran some strap and either welded or just drilled a hole in the strapping and connected it with the same bolt and ran it under and connected it to the frame would it have any bennefit at all? also can you weld chrome with tig maybe? also how expensive is it to get something chromed on average?

You will burn the chrome off if you weld directly to the steel bumper. The bumper is connected to the frame with dog ears that gives so the frame doesn't bend in a collision. I suppose if you went all the way to the frame underneath with some substantial metal it would strengthen it, but it's going to have to be substantial, not just some thin strapping.

well it wouldn't be that noticable if i burned it its almost all the way under the bumper. also how thick a strapping are we talkin?
