03 Neon not turning over at all

i recently purchased a dodge neon from a friend and he said the spark plugs needed replacing and the starter..... i replaced both plus a new battery, and when I turn the switch foward, i hear the fuel pump turn on and all the gauges work, but the engine dont crank at all... any suggestions?

Let's start simple: double check the connections on the starter. Check the fuses and relays associated with the starter.

The fuel pump is coming on, so that is a good sign that your electrical connections associated with the key switch are all good.

Are the connection at the battery clean and solid?
