Just when you thought there was nothing that could be done to the DB series to make them any more menacing and sexy at the same time, Aston Martin shows you otherwise.

The company unveiled their DBS Carbon Edition at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show.

Aston Martin unveils DBS Carbon Edition
at Frankfurt auto show

Aston Martin revealed its new DBS Carbon Edition at the Frankfurt motor show, wearing a flashy new Flame Orange paint job. This is the second time that a DBS has received the treatment, the first being the Carbon Black model in 2009.

Flame Orange and Ceramic Grey will be two new color options on the car, as well as the original Carbon Black. Aston Martin says the cars undergo a 25-hour hand-polish finish that results in the deep, glassy finish. A first for Aston Martin is the option to specify a satin-lacquer-paint finish, creating a silklike texture.

The coupe sits on 10-spoke gloss-black, diamond-turned wheels with calipers in red, orange, yellow or gray. A black grille, carbon-fiber mirror housings, rear lamp surrounds and smoked taillights go with the rest of the sinister look.

Inside, both black and Maranello orange leather seats are offered--each of which takes 70 hours to hand-stitch and finish, according to the company. Hand-laid carbon fiber surrounds the dashboard. A special-edition plaque with laser etching sits in the door sill.

The Carbon Edition comes with a 6.0-liter V12 that makes 510 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, and the car has a 0-to-62-mph time of 4.2 seconds. The DBS gets either a six-speed manual or a six-speed Touchtronic II transmission.

The DBS Carbon Edition coupe will start at $287,576, while the Volante stickers at $302,576 when the cars hit dealerships in the first quarter of 2012

The Aston Martin DB series has always held a special place in my heart for its unique styling and great amount of power.

The amount of man hours put into just one of these cars is a great reminder of just how much pride Aston Martin takes in their vehicles (as is the price tag).

We're pretty confident this will be just as big a hit as past DB models.
