I am new at this forum. Please excuse me if this same post appeared earlier. I am not sure where it went if it did make it in.

I am trying to install a tach in my van but I am not able to find clear information on how I can do it. I have COP ignition, which adds complexity compared to ignition systems of the old days.

Where can I acquire the tach signal? I read that I might be able to pull it from my PCM (possibly pin #48) but it will be only 5v instead of the 12v I need. I also heard that I might need a tach adapter. I searched adapter manufacturer's instructions but they leave me even more confused.

Finally, I saw but did not capture a simple DYI test adapter made with a LED light that I can probe wiring to help locate the pulsing tach signal. I would like to make one of these so I can keep from screwing up.

Any help or advice will greatly appreciated.

I thought of another option, getting a instrument cluster from a '03 and up. I still would likely have the issue of obtaining the tach signal and possibly other instrument signals compatibility between my '02 and a later model. Of course there would be the a different odometer reading. Can the odometer assembly be swapped?
