Will this Engine fit in my 2001 Lesabre

Hello,

After concluding (with the great help i got from this forum) that my engone is shot due to rod bearing (my previous thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1070041), I ordered a used engine and just saw it today. The new engone has a lot of parts that looks different :frown: and it doesn't seem to be a direct fit.

The major difference that i first spotted was the oil pan, my old engine had an aluminum pan and the engine mount connected to it, while the new one i got had sort of an iron pan, picture below, additonal things that i saw different:

The fuel rail has different kind of injectors, the injector's connector is different than mine.
The oil pressure sender has 4 pins (the electrical plug had 2 wires) while mine had 3 pins and 3 wires plug.
The belt tension assembly heater hoses come out to the left while mine to the fire wall direction.
not sure if the rear exhaust manifold is the same ...

attaching few pictures of the engine i jut got.

Pease let me know what you think, since i was offered a Lucerne series III 3.8 engine and I didn't take to avoid all the part I have to change/modify (so i heard) to make it fit. Does this one fit? will I have to change all the parts i mentioned above? does it look like 2004 engine as I think (based on the stamp on the plastic upper manifold)

Too many question for one post, but i need to decide of to keep this engine they sent me or to ship it back.

Thanks for all your help.

What year engine are you replacing? Duh, just saws 2001 L/S....

This looks like a mid 90's "K" engine.....

from the oil pan I suspected that it came from late 90s series II and not newer. How can I confirm? can i tell by the fuel injector's connectors?

I only looked at the upper intake and the stamped date (2004), but it could be that the upper intake was replaced...

Thanks.

Why didn't you go for the series III? No matter what you do chances are goo there will be parts swapping...

What you have is a 95-96 Vin K 3800 Series II.... You will need to swap you fuel rail and injectors to the new engine, as well you need to swap your TB onto the new motor unless you swap the whole upper intake...

You will also need to install your rear exhaust manifold among other items...

yup, I had the feeling this wasn't 2000+ 3800 so I asked to return it back, and got a different engine (from a different shop) droped from a 2001 lesabre , i just had to put my throttle body (the engone I got was w/o TB), new plugs / oil /coolant and the car is rolling agian :).

P.S.
I didn't put the 2008 for few reasons, fisrt it take me a lot of effort in the ministry of transportation office to convince them it's kind of the same ss my old engine though it came from a different model ( i need their approval in any engine change/swap, which is much easier if the engine came from the same kind of car), my second reason is that i will need some parts (like the TB adaptor) to put the series III in my car which we don't have them available in my country, and i can't afford being w/o my car for more time (till the parts arrive if I order them from the states).

now, lets see how long this "bullet prrof" will last ....

Thanks all for the help and advice :)
