99 mercury cougar charging problems

I have read so many different forums over the cougar charging problems. I have recently had "the pleasure" of working on this car. I was driving the car home the battery light started flickering. sure enough the alternator was bad. so changed that as well as the battery. Started it up and still the same. So new wires, fuses, and changed all the relays.. I am at a stand still anyone have any leads as to what this could be? motor is a v6 duracrap (tec)
