Hi everybody. Got a problem with my caprice not starting. First off got a 92 with a 305 TBI engine. About a month ago she quit runnin, and after checkin it out, i discovered that the driver side injector quit pumpin. The passenger side still pumps good tho. I replaced both injectors, had the same problem, then swapped them... same problem. Ive ripped the unit apart and cleaned it, but it still acts the same. I would appreciate any help yall can provide.

it is possible the crank sensor/connections/wires are messed up ..

what occurs is the engine starts to stop running after it heats up the sensor.. then totally fails..since its this old best to replace if the original ..

fuel pump relay also ...

Just to clarify, is the left injector still refusing to open, or is the new injector operating and the no-start condition still present?

Check the harness to the injector that won't activate with a noid light....if you don't have one, follow the harness backwards and look for a bad wire....see them pinched by the air filter assembly...

Tech II: Ima look into that... She started having problems with the timing, about a month before the injector went out, and fire balls shot out the TBI unit. Wires looked charred, but fine. Might try connecting it to the other set of wires to see if it works.

Blue Bowtie: Still the no start condition with the new injector... May be the problem as described by Tech II.

I suppose if thats the problem, then thats a MAJOR oversight on my part. For some reason im always looking for the bigger, less obvious problem. But thanks guys... Ill try to get the battery charged, and check into that in the next coming week. Thanks for the help.

Also, if theres any other oddball things that could be causing this situation, lemme know.

Sounds to me like it could be a vacuum line

I would check for a a broken gear on the timing chain. This will cause back fires.
