How to Fight a Traffic Ticket

A lot of this is fairly obvious but some of the tricks are pretty handy. The one that I personally use the few times I've been in front of a judge (trivial offenses only: parking tickets, no front license plate, etc.) is to dress nicely and look professional. This helps a lot. I got a $250 fine expunged and just had to pay the $10 processing fee.
