1996 Camaro won't start (gauges flashing)

Hi,

I have a 1996 Camaro V6 5 spd. Its been sitting for about 3 years, and I can;t get it started now. The battery was dead so I hooked up my charger to it. When I turn the ignition to on (but not start), the gauages all flicker on and off rythmically (as do several warning lights on the dash). When I turn the ignition to start I just hear a clicking sound. I can't get any codes off the ODB either.

Does any one have any idead how I would start to troublshoot this?

Chances are, that battery has a dead cell(s), and possibly the connections at the battery are bad.....

Take the cables off the battery......remove the battery and have it tested.....check the battery cable ends for corrosion....clean if necessary and replace bolts if necessary......if battery is ok(I doubt it), recharge it or replace it.....install battery and re-attach cleaned cables and try to start....

Thanks much! The battery was indeed faulty. I bought a new one, and was able to start the car. :) Its running very rough, so I have more work to do, but this solved the initial problem.
