Access Trunk without lock cylinder

I am trying to figure out how to get into the trunk of my 95 Taurus. When I bought it, it had the lock cylinder removed. The guy who sold it to me told me to stick my finger in the hole and engage the trigger, then it would open. I cannot figure out how to get it open, and the button inside the car is keyed, too. Please, any help would be great

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have the door key for the car? If so, you should be able to unlock the inside trunk release, then pull (or push) the lever for the trunk to get it to release. If the cable release doesn't work, then using a flat blade screwdriver in the hole for the trunk key cylinder won't work either. You may need to pull the rear seat bottom cushion, then unbolt the lower bolts that hold the seat back in place, slide the seat back up to unhook it, and crawl through that way to access the inside of the trunk release.
