ok I want to buy a cbr600RR soon, I am kinda looking at the ninzaZX6rr por ZX7R, but am about 90% with honda still. but I went and looked at it and they toild me 9k plus taxes. the website says msrp of 8599. I am guessing these kinds of places dont make much money off of new bikes/atv's/pwc's and get most of their money from p[arts, apparel and trade-in resells. but if honda suggests 8599, theyd be making money selling it at that im assuming, so I was thinking of going in and offerin 8k cash out the door. or do they spend close to that to get it themselves.

anybody whos bought a new bike recently, can you please tell me how much it started at, whats the msrp(if you know it) and what yopu paid out the door?

thanks

When I bought my R6 last year it cost me $200 over msrp, but I didn't look around. You should be able to do better than $500 over msrp. Oh, watch out for factory financing.

there wpont be financing. I am going to give them cash, which is why I think I should be able to get it cheaper. Ive always been told "money talks". so you financed yours?

did you offer them less or pay what they were advertising?

Yup and at this rate it will be paid for in.. about ten years. Cash will help a lot thats how my buddy bought his gxsr when he got the big check. Go in offer them less then you wanna pay and say "cash, today." Who knows they might take it. If not they're sales men they will work with you. BTW go with the Honda I've been reading about all the new 6's and everyone says the suspention on the Kawi is bad. They say the Honda could lose a few pounds but IMO it's easier, cheaper to lose weight than replace suspention.

yeah, i never heard of the suspension thing, and I wouldnt figure the 15 pounds would make too much of a difference, but now that i think of it in a 350 or so pound vehicle with prolly like 100HP, i guess it would.

I like the ninjas looks alot, but he honda looks just as good to me, but that center up exhaust or whatever its called kinda hooked me. plus I trust honda on about everything.

I know what you mean about the underseat exhaust. Not to scare you off, but I heard a while ago that they had a recall on of the 600RRs because the seat was catching on fire. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS TRUE. It's just something I'd ask the dealership, and make sure that if there is a recall that it has been performed. I know I wouldn't want my seat set a blaze as I'm riding down the road.:flamer: Also what do you think of the Yammies? I'm more than happy with mine.

Then again, a nice SMALL starter bike wouuld be a great investment. :o No problems that I've heard of any time recently, and geez, look at that, insurance will be MUCH LESS. Amazing how that works out.

I agree that it is a good idea to start small. I was only discussing prices and the good and bad of the 600s not weather it was the best thing for someone with no expirience to learn how to ride on. Even then it's possible, because I know that there are many other threads with that very topic being discussed. No offence, your opinions are valued. So Saturn, what is your take on the new 6's?

Hey, you can call me tangie. Everyone else does. :D

I think the CBR600RR is SEXY, but that exhaust is just plain wrong. The VFR800 Interceptor has MUCH sexier exhaust... mmm, duals. Not to mention that SSSAs are sooooo much sexier than that GAWDAWFUL swingarm duo they put on the RR. God, that right side swing arm is just GROSS. The ZX6R is cooler than the 6RR. I mean, 636cc's... that's awesome! The RR is restricted to 500, but then they claim they tuned it up higher. I dunno, but I"m not big on Kawi green, so the 6R would be my choice any day. The F4i is always a good choice, but I hear the seats have become ROCKS since 2000. Guess someone decided they wanted a racier feel on the F4i and thought that a rock hard seat would be the way to go.

Well, then tangie. How's about those 03 R6's? I like most every thing 'bout them except for where they put the seat lock cylinder. I agree with you on nasty Kawi green.:puke: I don't think I could do with the ridicule that goes a long with riding a Kawi. (You know they're fast when they're by themselves, and such) I love SSSA. Anyways, I'm Yamaha guy, so I'm partial.

The kawi zx6r is absolutely mean, while I haven't heard any negative feedback about its suspension yet, I do not doubt its existance. It is the first year of a new line for kawi, so I would expect a few recalls or adjustments needing to be made, same goes for the 600RR. Anyway, about kawi being slow? :) tell that to my friends zx12r with the muzzy 1460cc kit, he is pushing 220hp and 100ftlbs. I have also been seeing the new zx6r running consistently low 10's in the 1/4mile on stock bikes. I am really waiting for the zx10r and the new honda blade to see if I may be upgrading anytime soon. I would jizz my pants if Honda released a retail version of its rc211v.

It's just what you hear for the local riders. Kawi has been kinda laging behind for the last couple of years.

Just found it. May 2003 Cycle World Mag...
"Like many Kawasakis we've tested over they years, our ZX-6R came with its steering-head nut torqued downso tightly that the bike felt like it was wearing a steering damper. Of course, it wasn't, and this stickiness inhibited the front wheel's ability to "find center," the very function trailt is ment to preform. With its stem too tight, the 6R's chassis displayed worrisome weave and wobble. And when we had a Kawasaki tech loosen things up at the racetrack, we experienced the opposite effect, the front end breaking into big tankslapers through the fast infield chicane. A proper steering damper would work wonders.

A bigger issue is the 6R's suspention, which suffers from excessive compression damping at both ends. This hinders ride quality over small ripples and square-edged bumps-just the type of obstacles you encounter on the street. And it was bothersome at the racetrack, too, making for a flighty front end feel in the two highspeed sweepers and a tendency to buck fore-and-aft over the bumps leading across the speedway apron onto the tri oval. Softening up compression helped but didn't entirely alleviate the problem. Too bad, because if the ZX-6R had a chassis to match its engine, the conclusion to this test might be different."
Whew.
