95 Lincoln Town Car door locks are not locking automatically when shifting car out of Park

I have a 95 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series that is not automatically locking doors whenever I shift the car out of the Park position. I am wondering if the door locks have to be programmed or if there is somewhere else to check or both. I would appreciate some help

Get the five digit code from the inside of your trunk. Once you have that code enter it into the number pad of the door handle and immediatly press and hold the 7/8 button, then...while STILL holding the 7/8 button down, you will need to press and quickly release the 3/4 button, then quickly release the 7/8 button (which was held down the entire time you pushed the 3/4 button.
