'96 Caravan 3.3 liter and the headlights come on whenever they wish. Car sits at curb, I look outr and the headlights are on, no switches are on to put them on. I was thinking headlight switch but now am leaning toward BCM. Does anyone know if BCM will code using a basic OBD-II scanner?

You'll need a scanner capable of reading communication codes ("U prefix" instead of "P"). Slim chance but have you tried the reset trick? Pull the IOD fuse for 2-3 minutes. It's in the underhood fuse box. Some have had success disassembling the switch and cleaning it.

Well, moved car to high ground as Irene approached, disconnected the negative battery cable, and after two days retrieved Christine, and all is well. Go figure.

You reset the BCM and this can and has fixed various glitches in these vans. It may not be permanent, but with any luck it is.

Thanks for the post. I tried the negative cable off for about 30 minutes when this issue first started but it did no good, I guess two days works better. We will see.

You are going to love this. With Irene approaching I moved the car to high ground, removed negative cable an d left her for two days, went back hooked up the cable and drove her home. One week later and all symptoms are gone. I guess iI reset the BCM but how many days should that take?
