changing fluid in the differential

Can the differential fuilds be change at home or do you have to take it to a dealership for service. The last time i had this done it cost me over $400.00. I've been online and what i seen that it seems almost as simple as changing your motor oil. They also change the transfer case oil too. It is a 2003 gmc sierria 3.5 z71 4x4. what I'm trying to find out is this something that i can do at home and save money rather than going to a dealership and spending that amount of money again. Yes. This can be done at home, not a very difficult process.

TC is easier, has drain and fill plugs as does the front axle. But be advised if you have an a push button transfer case you need a special GM AUTOTRAC II Transfer Case fluid. No one else makes a substitute. If you have the manual shift transfer use a Dexron III Automatic Trans Fluid. DO NOT USE Dexron VI ATF.

I changed mine just the other day, there is a good video on youtube about how to use a plastic tube and electrical tape around the quart bottle to get the new t-case fluid in...I also pocked a hole in the plastic quart container after a while to let air in and get the fuild into t-case quicker..get two cans of the blue stuff from the dealer...it needs two.....
