I've a 2000 Monte Carlo, 106K miles, with 3.4 engine. The high beams lights are not working when activated but works when I hold the turn signal handle without letting go of it. Has any of you had this problem with your Monte Carlo? If so, how did you resolve it? Could it be some switch going bad or a shortage? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Sounds like your multi-function switch has a problem and needs replaced.

Is this switch very expensive and easy to install? I really appreciate your assistance. Thanks for taking the time to read about my issue and responding.

Parts from a dealer will run 500.00 or more, you may be able to fine a aftermarket one cheaper. They're not too hard to replace, however you will need to deal with the air bag if the steering wheel needs to come off. I seem to remember being able to replace them without removing the steering wheel, but I can't remember for sure. The procedure in the manual will have you remove the steering wheel. The trim around the top of the column needs to come off, as well as the knee bolster (area under the column, then just a few connectors.
