ok now i know im not the brightest person around, but for some odd reason my key wont release from the ignition in my 01 bravada. the battery is low because the car has been sitting for a few weeks, but that does not mean the key should be stuck! if anybody knows how i can get it out let me know asap. im not worried about somebody taking my car as it does not currently run and i do have an alarm system, i just dont like having my key stuck...any and all help and info is welcome

Also turn the steering wheel either direction gently while turning the keyswitch off & on to be sure the keyswitch is fully in the Off position.

If it is a floor shift flick the button that you push in to shift out of park with the shifter in park. Sometimes it will not release enough to close the park lock switch and will prevent the key from turning back to the off position to allow the key to come out. If that does not help, some further testing will need to be done. Do you have a 2-door with column shift, a 4-door with coloumn shift, or floor shift? The schematics are different for each.

thanks guys for all the help i finally got it out. i searched the forums and found a thread that spoke of this issue. i removed a little panel below the key hole and pushed a screwdriver up there and it came right out!

sure there is a little circular shaped screw cover right under the ignition switch. it dont look like its important at all and its easy to access. it dosent take much to remove it. after i removed the cover, i just pushed a flathead screwdriver up there. you will feel the part move its the only thing youll be able to touch. i lifted the tumbler and the key came right out with no problems
