Cooling fans question

Hello all, been a while since I have posted here but this has me stumped. I will try and make this as brief as possible.
I got my van back after having the head gasket replaced, first to find out there is a vacuum leak which I was able to fix myself but also the cooling fans were not running...anyway I would rather not take it back to the same people (I waited 8 mths to get my van back the first time...long story lol) so I am trying to figure the problem out myself.
I pulled the one relay and jumped the connection and got the 1 fan to run without a problem so I know they are getting power and such...I am assuming maybe they left a connection loose or something so my question is. Where would I find a connection to what controls when the fans come on and off (a control module for the themostat or something?) I am just assuming its something they forgot to connect or something as the fans worked fine before I took it in for the head gasket.
Sorry for the long read but I would really like to figure this out on my own :)
Thanks for any help!!!
Glenn

your test only checks the wiring & fan itself. the fan is'nt getting 12v until you jumped the relay.could be that its just a bad relay, try a known good relay or test the old 1.what happens when you turn the ac on, do both fans come on?
as far as the vacuum leak, smoke test is a good way to locate if its a small leak.spraying the v/lines while running will also help to find.can you hear the leak,or is it causing idle problems.
i agree i would'nt want to take it back to a shop that took 8mths to get it done

Thanks for the help once again :)
I found that there was a lead off a sensor on the side of the rad...simple fix :)
Also the vac leak ended up being a hose disconnected from the PCV valve which you could not see as it was behind everything...both issues have been fixed :) Thanks again!
