Hi All, I had a 2001 Civic LX and am doing all the preventive maintenance on my own, however, one thing that I don't know what to do is to turn off the Maintenance Required indicator. Is there any hint on how to do this?

I'm not sure how it is on 7th gen Civics like yours, but I know on my '00 6th gen Civic there's a button you have to push with your key that's located on the instrument gauge cluster. If there isn't anything like that on your car, then look it up in your users manual for your car, it would be in there how to turn it off.

if you dont have that key thing to turn it off, i believe you have to turn the key to the ON position but dont crank the motor, 3 times, then turn it over.

for whatever its worth:
my 00 civic ex has the keyhole in the gauge cluster as well, I would assume the 01 Lx has the same.
those things just go off at scheduled intervals right? Mine seems to change every 10k miles.

Thanks everyone, my problem was resolved. Yes indeed, the reset button on the right of the gauge cluster hold the secret. I press and hold the reset button while turn on the ignition key to on and countinued to hold it for anther 10 seconds and the Maintenance Req'd indicator went off.
Again thanks for the input,

I'm not sure about the newer civics, but on the 96-00 ones, they come on every 7500 miles.

For 7th gen they can be set by the dealership. I remember this because the dealer fucked up setting mine and the maintenance thing came on after like 3500 kms.

They aren't set by the dealer. They are set to light around the same maintainance intervals your user manual will list. So 7500, 12500, 15000, 22500, 30k, 37.5k, etc... I know this for a fact because mine would have been tweaked out by my dealer LONG ago and it still lights to the factory set interval which isn't changeable by the dealer, only resetable to turn off the light till it next lights back up.
