what is the legal lowest height a civic can be?

as the heading said, how low can u be and still be in the legal side in California?
How do cops measure your height???

I think its something like 22" from the center of the headlights to the ground.

in the UK it is illegal to lower your car more than 60mm (2.5")

but loadsa cars have it done :p

the cop pulled me over yesterday, he said i noticed u got a modifiied exhaust, please open the HOOD. I opened and he said ok u are good, u got the aem sticker. then he said that banner u got it's illegal and those blue bulbs in your corner lights are illegal too. Then he told me that the bulbs have to be the same color as when they lite up. Then i went to have my fixative ticket sign off and another officer told me u know those are not the original tailights, u can't just take clear tailgihts and paint them red. Well, i used to have altezzas, and i just painted them red so now they look like the 97-2000 integra tailights, they are all red except the back up light that is white.

sorry for long post, im just frustrated. Cops love to harass hondas!

no cops love to harass RICE, if it is tastefully done and not an excessively loud exhaust you will be fine, first of all melt was right headlights have to be 22" from the ground and your license plate has to be 18" from the ground, the bumpers can't go below the lowest part on your rim ETC, the blue blubs ARE illegal and the altezzas ARE illegal being that they are most likely NOT DOT approved

as far as the altezzas go, they are DOT approved thats why so many people have em, look for the number on the light. if the cop doesnt believe you, then ask him why altezzas are on new lexus's, mitsu evos', etc.

oh we got pulled over in my friends 89 hatch with air cylinders and 17's and at the time we were half way up so we layed it out when we got pulled over and the cop thought it was cool, so the ones that pull you over for the damn height of your car are stupid.

because MITSH and LEXUS actually make sure that their lights meet DOT compliance, and as was previously stated NOT ALL altezzas are DOT approved, majority of them arent

It must suck to live in cali. We have no drop limit here not that i know of atleast. I know we have a certain height to raise ur trucks like them big bronco trucks and pick up trucks:)

Oh and about them altezzas. It depends whre u live at. Clear tails i know for sure are illegal cause the bulbs look pink. For altezzas its ok cause as long as u see red its all good. Atleast here in illinois is like that.

it depends on the officer, i mean since it is a violation that CAN pull you over and cite you for it, but usually (from my experience, i am not saying that this is how the police force works) they will not just pull you over for something that stupid, they will try to get you for multiple violations

i hate altezza tail lights only because on some of them the brake little is extremly small, i almost plowed some civic in my vibe cause i didnt even see he was braking cause of his shitty cheap altezza's wasnt too happy either cause i loved that car

No sir, I asked a Constable here in Texas and there is no law as to how far you can drop your car. Altezza taillights are a different story. As long as the BRAKE light part is red and the blinkers amber and the reverse white, then you're good to go.

the alteezas are argueable becuase in the vehicle code book it says:



(e) Taillamps shall be red IN COLOR and shall be plainly visible from all distances.


so you could argue that they are red in color, but they can turn around and say we mean red plastic.

i told you guys, i used to be a lifeguard and worked with a cop and he gave me a vehicle code book, i know how to get out of almost any ticket. hahahaha

wonder what the limit is in pa.. just measured mine and i have 17.5 inches from headlight to ground and 7 inches from license plate to the ground

In SOuth Carolina it is against the law to lower any car at all, the only vehical that can legaly be lowered in SC is a truck and they have no restrictions on how low they can be.

Thank God they do not push that issue around here i would be in all kinds of trouble every car i have ever had was lowered, and the civic is tuckin 15's so ya know its low.


I hate laws that are made just to piss people off, and keep them from enjoying something that we all love lowered and sported out cars.

i got altezzas, but they are for show. Im making a show car and not racing or more performance. And the theme of my car is Red,White and Black. So i got some Red and Clear Altezza's, just to go w/the paint job and show look. I dont know bout all that homo stuff.. to each its own i say..
