First HLJ order (C-West RX7 pic req.)

Well, after near 2 year in modeling, I finally ordered from HLJ.. I don't know how it will cost me in shipping (that will probably kill me) but here is What I got

Tamiya BMW Williams 1/20
Tamiya TS-51 (for Williams and the CLK-GTR I need to finish)
2 Can of Tamiya Primer (finally ! imposible to find here after months of research)

Price before Shipping: 74$Can
Price it would cost here: near 120$Can (hope the shipping will not be too high)

Does anyone have made the C-West RX7 ? I didn't see any kit compleated of this one.

I have the C West, it's very nice, way better than Fujimi's RX-7's. You have to cut the head light covers out to put the open light bezel in. You get stock wheels and Advan's which are the correct diameter. They didn't put the vents in the hood like most pics of the real car have. Nice fitting body parts. I haven't built mine but someone on here has. :)

its i very easy kit and its fun to build. the hardest part i had wa to put the headlight on because up have to cut the plastic. itz a easy kit i would take pics but i dont have a digi cam..

Really funny,
my order from HLJ just arrived today, and I also have ordered the rx-7,
I took the headlghts out in 10 mins with my newly purchased plastic scriber also in the same order :D
the scriber works wonders

It is nice to see experienced modelers comment postively on the kit as it gives me more confidence in building it.

Only bad thing about it is that I am not too good in Japanese so I would have to half-guess what color that needs to be painted on what part.

G'day Vric,I have built a C-West RX7,fitted different wing and wheels,the kit was a joy to do.:)
Nearly as good as Tamiya IMHO,evan has same wheel fitting,making it easy for wheel upgrade...

could you explain how you make it ? did you remove the side to get a better fitment (like chris made)
The wheel are from Subaru WRC STI aren't they ?

how about the wing ? what is bad with it ? I have 2 SAS wing left sp I could use them, but what's wrong with the one in the kit ?

Vric,the original wing in my kit wasn't molded properly :( so I had a spare from Aoshima wing kit,the one with the uprights more laid back.
The sides were glued straight on :( before I saw fly's tip..
The rest of kit was pretty easy,nice interior,even better detail than Tamiya IMO.
I also added motor from R1 Tamiya,slightly modified to 20B.
Front lip and sides have been deepened by about 3mm.
Yes,wheels are STI's,good eyes u have;)

The side skirts are not molded in on the real cars either, it looks fine the way stump did it. :)

Hey stump,

Any tips on removing part of the rear lip (better put it "bodykit") which blocks about 1/3 of the gas lid ?

I am now deciding whether to cut the 1/3 circle and putty/sand it smooth or just entirely build it without the rear lip

hm.. i read that C-West post, im gonna make mine look 100% stock, stock lights, and possibly NO body kit. Only mods are gonna be the wheels and wing.. but im not sure, i decide once i see this kit in person:(

btw, for this kit, does the C-West rear bumper, and front bumper go over the stock ones? I've seen a pic of it, and it looks like the C-West rear bumper goes over the stock one...

I guess some versions didnt have the custom non-pop out lights..?

sure,it just deserves on what you want:)

sidskirts and rear bumper are all extenstions to the mainbody while the front bumper is molded with the the front lip; therefore, if you choose to discard the skirts and rear bumper you would probably end up with a car whose front bumper sits lower than the rest of the car.

just my 2-cents.
