98 dodge neon starting problem battery light on

i have a 98 dodge neon and i recently started having a problem with it startin i knw that its something electrical obviously but i dont knw exactly what it is i tried the whole taking the battery cable off to see if the alternator is working and the car stayed on so im assuming its ok but i replaced the battery 5 days ago and its not wanting to start again wo jumping it when i put the key in the ignition the gas and temp gauges move wo me even turning the key n e feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks have a good day

Make sure you tighten the cables very good. The neon needs it to be clean and tight.

Sounds like a bad ground connection. Try tightening the connections at the battery
