PO 449 code

My wife drove my '07 Silverado last week and after fill up the Check Engine Light came on. Of course I immediately blamed her for the problem but using my scanner, I get a PO 449 code. (Evaporative Emmissions solenoid, etc.). The truck runs fine, still gets good mileage (5.3L V8) but the code won't stay cleared.

Is this a gas cap seal issue or is there something else that needs replacing?

You most likely have a bad Evap Canister Vent Solenoid Valve.

if you like to fill up the fuel tank then after a very short ride shutdown the vehicle in a hot area the gas will get into the vapor cannister then the purge vent testing will fail , causing your dtc 0449 or others in the vapor test by the pcm...

remove the cannister/vapor vent lines and look for black goo ..if found clean up all this and you may luck out..

in the summer heat best no fill up the tank too much..then park vehicle..
