ok to clarify, i think in the uk the opel is called vauxhall, the astra and the vectra are completly different cars, but it shows how car companies band around with names, the vauxhaul nova in england was the corsa in europe, and then they changed it all to be in line, not sure why they keep doing that, there are hardly any kits of them other than the astra touring cars, which is a shame.

The touring car series throughout the world kicks ass, fast, fun and in production lookalike cars that u can identfy with, i have been to see the nascars when in california and i got very very bored, sorry but a big oval! fast yes, but even F1 has become boring, bloody ferarri, lol.
but touring cars are cool, loads of overtaking, paint swaping, and cool and attention keeping corners! plus they dont need all the pomp and cermoney that go go dancers and big flashing lights wit the nascars.

anyone not familiar with the touring cars read these pages:devil:

the Btcc is defenitly a cool championship. second would have to be JGTC, those guys are flawless man, its amazing there is'nt any Japanese drivers driving for a top team in formula 1, they have some amazing drivers that can do amazing things with their cars.

Sean
05-30-2003, 05:04 PM
wow! those cars are sweet!

chrismcgee
05-30-2003, 05:46 PM
perhaps its the way they come up through the ranks so to speak, most f1 drivers went thru carting, then formula ford, formula 3 etc until they get a ride. may b they just diversfy too much. but i still love japaneese for who they are, the oly people to have to engineer character into their vehicles!!!

The Opel/Chevrolet Vectra is called the Holden Vectra here in Australia, same as the Holden Astra. But what I don't understand is if the Holden Monaro was designed here, and being made in America as well, why do they have the Pontiac GTO badging?

Sorry if I went off topic....

chrismcgee

probably the same reason why honda created acura! because the american market likes tradition, and new (foreign) cars are not realy that well respected, a shame i know, but to quote shakespeare "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet!"
