A/C died

Suggestions please. I am not an auto mechanic. 2002 Civic EX with original 28,500 mikes. When I turned on the switch for the a/c, nothing happened. Was woking with no problems previous day. Fuses checkout ok. When switch is turned to on, compressor goes on but I think a pressure switch shuts it immediately off. The blower doesn't even go on. Thanks for any input.

Issue resolved. Needed to replace the fan resistor sensor. The part is Denso 077800-0682. Strange at this low mileage something like this should all of a sudden become defective.

glad you found the problem. make sure the connector looks ok and there are no signs of a short

The 01-05s use a transistor to control fan speed, If the cabin filter gets neglected there is a safety TCO that can open up on the transistor assy. Check your cabin filter if you have not already done so & thanks for letting us know what you found.

I don't know anything about a cabin filter. What and where is it?

Your cabin filter is behind the glove box. My 05 had plastic clips that pushed out on each side, after removed the glove box will fold down (and dump it's contents)
Straight ahead remove the cover that clips in, 1 filter and holder will slide out then slide the other filter and holder sideways left to remove it.
Observe the "air flow" direction when installing new, 1 box should have both filters = $15-$20.
If it is plugged it could be the reason your transistor died. I think you will be quite shocked when you see them. I do mine every 25k, a little over once a year.

Thanks for the tip Copytech. I changed the filters. The ones that came out, could barely see through them when held up to the light.

The sensor on my 2003 went out around 75,000 miles. My nephew was able to diagnose the problem. What an odd part.

hello everyone.
i'm new here..
I have same problem. My resistor is not working (denso 077800-0682).
I have found another type (denso 077800-0710).
Same appearance and size.
Dou you think i can replace denso 077800-0682 to denso 077800-0710?
I hope you can help me with this.
Thanks a lot!

Not sure about this part... and denso should be a well made part. With a lot of items the latest (higher revisions) last numbers will interchange.
What is model year ? (01-05 ?)

Thanks alot for your prompt reply.
Im using 2001 honda civic lxi automatic.
I just replaced now with this new type. Somehow its works and everything
Returns to normal.
Im just worried with the effect in the long run that might give bigger damage to
My AC system or engine as well.
Or maybe im just being paranoid because im using different part no.
Hope you guys can give me the confident of my actions.
Thanks..

It is working, so it must be correct.
Pretty sure it's later revision version of the unit.
