i posted in the correct forum but my post has had one view and i really need the help now so i can get to work this Saturday in my car. ok so i have a crazy problem and have no idea where to start that is why i registered on here for help. I have my 02 lesabre the problem started that the doors would not lock and unlock out of nowhere. now they will lock but the keypad will not unlock or it will not re lock either. then there are more problems when i start the car the dash acts like it is off, the seat belt light is on, the abs light is on, it doesnt highlight what gear i am in, has get maintenance soon light on, the radio stays off like it is in security mode, and the security light stays on, the only lights not on are the oil and check engine light. then sometimes while i am driving it will say trunk ajar and go away. but now out of nowhere this morning i was checking battery and i closed the door and now the alarm wont shut off it just keeps beeping, i disconnected the battery and reconnected the alarm still goes off i didnt even arm it. and it keeps going usually they shut off but it stops for a quick second and starts up again. So as you can see its pretty crazy mess any input would be greatly appreciated. i have checked the trunk wires to see if they were loose they are all fine, checked door wiring it is all good called dealer ship they said it might be a computer any ideas on what computer would control all this? thanks for any help!! :runaround:

1) ok so i have a crazy problem and have no idea where to start that is why i registered on here for help. I have my 02 lesabre the problem started that the doors would not lock and unlock out of nowhere. now they will lock but the keypad will not unlock or it will not re lock either.

3)then sometimes while i am driving it will say trunk ajar and go away.

4)but now out of nowhere this morning i was checking battery and i closed the door and now the alarm wont shut off it just keeps beeping, i disconnected the battery and reconnected the alarm still goes off i didnt even arm it. and it keeps going usually they shut off but it stops for a quick second and starts up again. Ok, Bare with me here.

1. You may have a problem with your key fob. Does it open the trunk? If not, your fob is likely dead and needs a battery.

2. Judging by the rest of your comments, it sounds like your security system is out of whack. Your suspicion of security mode is likely accurate. It’s possible something happened with your remote entry that messed up the security settings or when you were trying to get into the car following your screwed up fob issue, it could have done something.

3. It could just be a faulty sensor here. I would ask a tech about this.

4. How long does your alarm go off for? Typically, stock alarms are only supposed to go off for about 1 minute in length and then turn themselves off. If this is not occurring (not sure how long it had gone off before you disconnected it), you may have something wrong with your computer.

The best thing you can do is try and get the car going and take it to a dealer for them to connect a scan tool to your car, which will help with computer issues. You may also be able to get this done at a local auto store, but I am not sure – would call around about that one.

I hope this helps. You're in an odd spot because this does sound like a computer issue, which unfortunately limits you in options for diagnosis.

well im thinking it is all one problem as they all started occurring at the same time this is not an issue that developed over time all of this started at the same time as each other which is why i am thinking computer. and it is not the key as stated when i hit the button the alarm sounds like it armed or unarmed depending if i hit lock or unlock but the actual locks dont move. but thank you for the help after hearing this do you think it could all be related to one computer chip?

it could be just the key fob or the battery.do you have another one you can try?
maybe just resetting the system security will correct the issue. check owners manual should have procedures. alarm system is factory...right??
you may want to check all your fuses also

Dont quote me on this but we used to have problems similar to this, it sounds like a Body Control Module problem.

The DIM (Dash Integration Module) is the BCM for this car and is the power mode master for all the Class 2 communication modules. Sound like symtoms from alot of different modules not being able to communicate properly. I'm not saying it is the DIM, but the car should have every module scanned and Dtc's recorded. Some modules may be missing from the communication line and "U" codes could point to which ones.
