http://www.gservo.com/assets/images/gdragon1.gif Well
What should i look for when it comes to Monte Carlos. This is my first one. I plan to do alot to it. I dont want to make it a show car but i want it to be on point. Clean running, well etc.
The Port and polish it the first step in a process that i hope will make my car truly nice...

Sorry,
Lets try this again
I am looking for advice on getting a monte Carlo engine Port and Polished(if that is the correct phrasing). Also I am looking for advice on restoring an older monte carlo.
We will just leave it there for now.
Honestly i am a computer geek just learning about cars
Thanks for the reponce...

Okay, so you wanna know what mods to do to a Monte!! Well, that's simple, first, what type of engine do you have. V6, V8 or numerical designation 350ci etc. Then you could go into the other things. Port and Polish only if the engine is worth doing it to. Exhaust is definitely necessary. You might want to look into some Flow Masters. Pulleys could be changed. You might even want to look into some form of Forced Induction. The possibilities are endless, so you have to know exactly what you want to do. We could list mods from now till tomorrow if you don't know exactly what you are trying to do.

Is your car a V-6,or 8? I converted my `85 Regal to a Chevy SB,and can help you out with your conversion. Let me know what help you need.

if you can get custom headers for the 3.8, then yeah. All you have to do is pump in into the tpi, if it is tpi. Why dont you just upgrade to a 4 liter v8, its ohc and fits the bell housing mounting pattern. You can get that motor from GM. I also have an 85 monte non-SS, and theres a bunch of stuff you can do to make it fast besdides the trouble of poting. First of all good dual exhaust and headers, an HEI distributor, good cam, good manifold, and 650-700 cfm 4 barrel should get you to about 300HP(w/ the 350), and other bolton crap can get you over 350 before any internal work. Porting will really just get you better power at high rpms, it wont help much on the street. Another thing to make it fast, put high rear end gears in like 3.73s or 3.90s. This will reduce your top speed to about 110, but acceleration will improve dramatically.

if ou want a turbo v-6 find a buick 231 and take it to the machine shop and have them drill and tap a oil return port for the turbo the NA 231 and the turbo 231 are the same block. Youll have to get a set of GN headers and diffrent pistons and other essential stuff such as intake injectors wireing harness etc. or go out and find a TR motor.... good luck though
