kissing

Well, I was just thinking about this, and aobut how whenever I kiss, my eyes seemingly instinctivly shut. Doing some heavy duty thinking, I remember that everyone I see kiss, closes their eyes aswell. Sometime I open my eyes to see if my partner has closed eyes, and, they do.
Basically, I was wondering if anyone has a scientific reason, because, personal preference doesnt really come into play, i dont think, since, its never been a conscience decision on my part.
So, just seeing if this is what happens for everyone, or, if there are others who do it differently, and see if there is a solid reason why this seems to be that he vast majority of people kiss with their eyes closed.

Hmm, something so simple, but, creating a lot of pondering over the last 5 minutes, lol.

For the most part there closed:o :p :D

I used to kiss with em shut- but now they stay open :p







I guess it's a shyness thing and after a while you build confidence maybe?

It depends on what Im kissing.

Sometimes its nice to able to see what your doing :licker:
and sometimes its nice to just close your eyes, and enjoy the pure physical sensation :cool:

I think it's because eyes look really ugly if you see them up close.

Closed is fun/normal for me, but it's sorta erotic and exciting when you can look the other person in the eye even if it's just for a moment or two.

My last girlfriend used to kiss with her eyes open, I don't mean to sound shallow but it creeped me out so badly that I had to break up with her. I started getting nightmares that she was just standing by my bed at night...watching me. Seriously creepy.

Usually closed. Occasionally open - especially if its a peck from Grandma

mine always shut also...not sure why one time I opened them and it felt weird so I shut them again

closed when i kiss on the lips...but some other kisses require you to see what you're doing...

and when kissing a family member, they stay open as well.

I honestly have nothing relevent to add to this thread, because the only person Ive been kissed by is my mom

I've voted for closed too...


one explanation might be that by closing down your other senses your touch sense gets priority and thefore you become more sensitive and enjoy the experience more.

Either that or you just get bombarded with eyes closed as a kid...anytime you see a kiss on TV, or even your parents kissing, it's eyes closed, so it comes natural once you get older.

ummm, since I've only had one kiss:( (but it's all good right?) I can determine it really easily......closed.

Closed...I occassionally open them to look into her eyes as we pull away fro a sec, breather, then go back. But yeah..they're closed

Hold your hand flat in frount of your face, right up against your nose.
Now try and focus on it.

If you can your a freak, and you should feel free to kiss with your eyes open.
Otherwise you will find it impossible to focus with both eyes, and you will either get eye strain or a headache, which if it was someones face while you were kissing them would kind of put a downer on the whole experiance.

I think what he was trying to say, if the person you are kissing is ugly or is good looking

I always start off closed, but after a while (during a long one) it's really romantic to look straight into the other person's eyes (presuming you're kissing a person, I don't know about sheep, etc). I think the reason people prefer to kiss with their eyes closed is because it's much more dreamy and romantic.
