OK? Eclipse RS/GS engine in a Neon?

:confused: ok? my good fwen at schoo said his brother owned a 95-99 Eclipse GS/RS, and he says it was a neon engine?? OK:confused: i thought the Eclipse GS/RS had a totally Japan Engine, not a Dodge engine. And them Dodge Neons have them bumps on the hood, so that made me think alot, i kno that dodge and mitsu are...i dunno...partners:confused:but i ned more info on dodge and mitsu? thanks:D

the eclipse and talon shared the same engine, and they were built in the US, but the new srt-4's have some mitsu in them don't they?

Both the 95-99 eclipse/talon, GS/RS, base model/ESi share the 420a engine which is found in all neons aside from the new SRT-4

k, well DSM is a merge with chrysler and mitsubishi.

and the non turbos(RS,GS,Esi) share the same block with the neon, avenger, stratus ect. the 420A
but its a different head. which is why the eclipse/talon have the headers in front and the neon has headers in the back(facing firewall)

but don't get it twisted, allthough the engine code is the same the motors are not interchangable. this is due in part to these facts: a neon is sohc, and an eclipse has dohc. the dohc requires the eclipses pistons to have valve recess cut into the tops of them for valve clearance. also the block is cast differently, not drastically different, but different enough that it wont work. the neon block lacks much needed accessory mounts, and has different coolant returns.

Yea When I First Bought My Eclipse It Had A Chevy Dohc In It, Because The Moron Who Owned The Car Before Me Forgot To Put Oil In The Old Engine, But I Quickly Replaced That Chevy Piece Of Shit With The Origional

was it a quad 4 HO?
if it was a HO it has 180hp stock n/a.
every other one is junk
